THE UST Golden Tigresses preyed on the Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-13, 25-12, 25-9, for their second win in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.

UST (2-3) posted 31 kills, 14 aces and seven blocks.

Tigresses team captain Cherry Ann Rondina dropped 15 points while EJ Laure and Alina Bicar combined for 12 markers.

“We built our confidence at talagang tiniyaga namin kung ano ‘yung mga kulang namin the past games lalo na service,” UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said in an interview.

The Tigresses built a five-point cushion in the third set, 13-8, before pulling away for good off an 11-1 run to arrive at set point. Carla Sandoval’s hit from the opposite wing sealed UST’s win.

With the Adamson still within striking distance in the first set, the Tigresses ignited an 8-1 spurt, capped by an Alina Bicar ace, to gain a 1-0 advantage. UST had eight of its 14 aces in the first set alone.

The Tigresses will face the National University on March 1, Wednesday, 4 p.m., at the same venue.
