THE UST Tiger Spikers stretched their winning streak to five after a masterful 25-22, 26-24, 25-22 beating of the Adamson University Soaring Falcons in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.

The Tiger Spikers claimed solo lead with a 5-0 win-loss slate while the Falcons dropped to 4-2.

Already at match point in the third set, Adamson tried to extend the game by firing back-to-back points before Tiger Spiker Juren Buro finished the match with a crosscourt kill, 25-22.

“Aggressive kami mag-serve ngayon kasi sinabi ko na huwag mag-aim for an outright ace, just break [Adamson’s] attack system,” UST head coach Odjie Mamon said in an interview.

Back-to-back kills from Genesis Redido and Aldous Casillan broke a 24-all deadlock in the second frame, giving UST a 2-0 set advantage.

The Falcons tried to close in on the Tiger Spikers in the opening canto, before UST uncorked a quick 3-1 spurt, capped off by an off-the-block kill from Manuel Medina, 25-22.

Joshua Umandal led all scorers with 23 points while Medina chipped in 10 markers for the UST.

Team captain Paolo Pablico was the lone Falcon in double digits with 11 points.

The Tiger Spikers will try to extend their unbeaten run against the San Beda University Red Lions on Aug. 15, Wednesday, 6 p.m. at the same venue.
