THE UST Golden Tigresses survived the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws in a 25-15, 25-27, 25-18, 25-22, 15-11 nail-biter in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the Xavier University Gym at Cagayan de Oro Saturday.
The Tigresses finished the eliminations at second place with a 6-1 win-loss card while the Lady Tamaraws fell to third behind a 5-2 slate.
With UST at match point in the fifth frame, Milena Alessandrini committed an attack error before Eya Laure sealed the game with a crosscourt kill, 15-11.
A service error from the Tigresses enabled FEU to take the fourth set.
Up 15-13 in the third canto, UST ignited a 10-5 burst to take a commanding 2-1 set lead.
Back-to-back kills from Lady Tamaraws France Ronquillo and Czarina Carandang broke a 25-all deadlock in the second canto to equalize the game at one-set apiece.
Caitlyn Viray’s crosscourt kill capped the Tigresses’ 13-3 run in the first salvo for an early advantage.
