THE FAR Eastern University Lady Tamaraws pounded the UST Golden Tigresses, 22-25, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20, to force a do-or-die match in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference semifinals at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.

Lady Tamaraw Lycha Ebon’s off-the-block kill in the fourth frame finished the match, 25-20.

“Bago naman magsimula ang laro, sabi ko ang goal namin is ma-lessen ‘yong team errors pero ang nangyari sa game is lalamang kami ng three points tapos mag-eerror ng anim, bale dumudoble pa, doon kami nadali,” Tigresses assistant coach Ian Fernandez said.

Leading 19-14 in the third set, FEU uncorked a 6-0 burst, capped by Celine Domingo’s block kill, 25-14.

The Lady Tamaraws unloaded a 7-1 run in the second salvo, topped by Jerili Malabanan’s down-the-line kill to equalize the game at one-set apiece.

An FEU error in the opening canto allowed UST to take a 1-0 set lead.

The Lady Tamaraws’ solid net defense yielded 10 blocks compared to the Tigresses’ five.

FEU also had 12 service aces while UST only had six.

Domingo led the Lady Tamaraws with 19 points while Malabanan added 17 markers.

Milena Alessandrini had 13 points for the Tigresses. with reports from Hazel Grace S. Posadas
