THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers breezed past the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eaglets, 25-13, 25-19, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 81 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Far Eastern University-Diliman Gym Sunday.

The Junior Spikers are now at fourth place with a 5-4 win-loss slate while the Blue Eaglets fell to seventh with a 1-8 record.

UST had a slim 19-17 lead in the third canto before igniting a 6-1 burst, sealed by Blue Eaglet Andrei Almadro’s attack error for the win.

“Nire-remind lang namin ang players na simple lang ang volleyball and di na kailangang artehan. Kung ano ang simple, ‘yon ang nagwo-work,” Junior Tiger Spikers assistant coach Rommel Abella told the Varsitarian.

UST uncorked a quick 4-2 blitz late in the second set, capped by an attack error from Juan Rios for a 2-0 set advantage.
