THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses demolished the University of the East Junior Lady Warriors, 25-21, 25-14, 25-23, in the UAAP Season 81 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym Wednesday.
UST remained at third place with a 6-4 win-loss card while UE dropped to a 2-9 slate.
Back-to-back errors from the Junior Lady Warriors in the third salvo sealed the win for UST, 25-23.
“Positive ‘yong naging outcome ng game pero kailangan pa rin naming ayusin ‘yong service errors and i-polish ang rotation for the next game,” UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. told the Varsitarian.
The Junior Tigresses sparked a 10-4 run to pull away for good in the second set, capped by Merry Rose Jauculan’s service ace, 25-14.
Khaira Garces’ service ace ended a 9-5 bomb by UST that broke a 16-all deadlock in the opening canto, 25-21.
Team captain Imee Hernandez had 10 points for the Junior Tigresses while Jauculan added nine markers.
Kathleen Layugan had 10 points for UE.
The Junior Tigresses will next face the undefeated National University Lady Bullpups on Nov. 24, Saturday, 3 p.m.,at the same venue.
