THE UST Junior Golden Tigresses hammered the Adamson University Baby Lady Falcons, 25-23, 25-22, 25-18, in the UAAP Season 81 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Far Eastern University-Diliman Gym Sunday.
The Junior Tigresses remained at third place with an 8-4 win-loss record while the Baby Lady Falcons fell to a 7-5 slate.
UST unleashed a 16-5 bomb early in the third frame as Renee Penafiel’s block kill completed the sweep for the Junior Tigresses.
“Nasa peak na ‘yong mga players and makikita sa game na controlled na lahat, from serves to blocks and ‘yong mga errors nila, expected and correctable naman na lahat ‘yon,” Junior Tigresses head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. told the Varsitarian.
Team captain Imee Hernandez’s quick kill in the second set allowed UST to grab a 2-0 set advantage.
Back-to-back kills from Junior Tigress Regina Jurado broke a 23-all deadlock in the opening canto, 25-23.
Penafiel led all scorers with 17 points.
Kate Santiago and Ayesha Juegos had eight markers apiece for Adamson.
