THE UST Golden Tigresses made quick work of the alumni squad, 25-20, 25-22, 25-17, in an exhibition match at the Quadricentennial Pavilion, Wednesday.

A Sisi Rondina through-the-block kill in the third canto sealed the deal for UST, 25-17.

“Maganda ang nilaro ng mga bata kasi mga veterans ang kalaban nila pero ‘di sila na-intimidate. Dapat masanay lang talaga sila maglaro sa big crowd,” Tigresses head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. told the Varsitarian.

Trailing 16-22 in the second salvo, the alumni squad went on a 6-1 run to trim the deficit to one, 22-23, but Maruja Banaticla’s attack error allowed the Tigresses to take a 2-0 set advantage.

Eya Laure’s off-the-block kill gave the Tigresses the first set, 25-20.

Milena Alessandrini paced the Tigresses with 13 points, while Rondina and Laure combined for 12 markers.

Ging Balse-Pabayo had five points for the alumni team, while Aiza Maizo-Pontillas added four markers.

The Tigresses will open their UAAP Season 81 campaign against the Adamson University Lady Falcons on Feb. 17, Sunday, 2 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena. J.E.J. Hirro
