Golden Tigresses drub UE

THE UST Golden Tigresses stretched their winning streak to three after sweeping the University of the East Lady Warriors, 25-18, 25-14, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

With the Tigresses at match point, Sisi Rondina finished the match with a crosscourt hit to give UST its fifth win in seven games, 25-20.

Leading 17-11 in the second frame, the Tigresses staged an 8-3 rally, topped by Lady Warrior Mialyn Manabat’s service error for a 2-0 set lead, 25-14.

Rookie KC Galdones fired a quick kill in the first set to give UST an early advantage, 25-18.

The Tigresses dominated the blocking department with six points while the Lady Warriors only had one.

Rondina led all scorers with 17 points while prized rookie Eya Laure added 15 markers for UST.

Judith Abil spearheaded UE with 15 points.

The Tigresses improved to a 5-2 win-loss card for second place in the standings, tied with De La Salle University.
