AN OFF-THE-BLOCK kill from De La Salle University’s Billie Anima sent the UST Tiger Spikers reeling to their third-straight defeat, 27-25, 25-22, 22-25, 25-23, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo Sunday.

La Salle tied UST at fifth place and improved to 3-5 win-loss card.

With the third set tied at 18-all, the Tiger Spikers sparked a 7-4 run, topped by Green Spiker David Inocentes’ attack error to prevent a sweep.

La Salle had a slim one-point lead in the second salvo, 22-21, before igniting a 3-1 spurt, capped by a UST error for a 2-0 set advantage.

Green Spiker Wayne Marko’s service ace in the first frame gave La Salle the upper hand early, 27-25.

Chris Dumago led La Salle with 18 points while Anima had 12 markers.

Joshua Umandal had a game-high 21 points for UST while team captain Manuel Medina added 14 markers.

The Tiger Spikers will try to bounce back against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on March 31, Sunday, 10 a.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.
