THE FAR Eastern University Tamaraws handed the error-plagued UST Tiger Spikers their fourth-straight loss, 25-15, 26-28, 25-22, 25-14, in the UAAP Season 81 men’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday.

UST committed 39 errors while FEU had 23.

The Tamaraws finished off the Tiger Spikers in the fourth frame with an 11-7 rally, sealed by Reco de Asis’ block kill, 25-14.

“We prepared for this game pero malakas talaga ang kalaban. We had a problem sa execution sa bandang dulo ng fourth set kasi they gaveup already,” UST head coach Odjie Mamon said.

Peter Quiel’s down-the-line hit in the third set allowed FEU to grab a commanding 2-1 set advantage.

Tiger Spiker Jayvee Sumagaysay’s block kill in the second salvo equalized the game to one-set apiece, 28-26.

Leading 16-10 in the opening canto, the Tamaraws uncorked a 9-5 spurt, topped by Sumagaysay’s service error to grab the upper hand early, 25-15.

UST outscored FEU in services, 7-1, but the Tamaraws dominated the blocking department, 10-3.

Tamaraw John Paul Bugaoan led all scorers with 18 points while Jude Garcia added 17 markers.

Joshua Umandal had 17 points for the Tiger Spikers.

UST dropped to sixth place in the standings with a 3-6 win-loss card while FEU remained at solo second with an 8-1 slate.

The Tiger Spikers will next face the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on April 3, Wednesday, 8 a.m., at the Arena in San Juan.
