DEFENDING champions Nazareth School of National University Lady Bullpups extended their winning streak with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-15 victory over the UST Junior Golden Tigresses in the UAAP season 82 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Paco Arena Wednesday.
NU remained unbeaten in seven games for solo first while the Junior Tigresses slid to a 6-2 card for second place.
Minierva Maaya’s quick attack secured the victory for the Lady Bullpups.
NU banked on a 10-2 run to pull away from a 15-all deadlock in the second canto.
Team captain Erin Pangilinan’s quick kill and ace in the opening salvo secured a set advantage for NU.
Pangilinan, Alyssa Solomon and Evangeline Alinsug paced NU with 11 markers apiece.
Junior Golden Tigress Renee Peñafiel led UST with nine points while Regine Jurado and Sophia Abbu tallied five markers each.
Up next for the Junior Golden Tigresses are the Adamson University Baby Falcons on Oct. 13, Sunday, 1 p.m. at the same venue.
