THE UST Golden Tigresses succumbed to the National University Lady Bulldogs, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 20-25, 13-15, in their UAAP Season 82 women’s volleyball tournament opener at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay Wednesday.
NU’s Ivy Lacsina finished UST off with a cross-court kill.
Trailing 14-15 in the fourth canto, NU banked on an 11-5 run topped by Lacsina’s kill block to force a decider.
Following a four-point lead by UST, 23-19, multiple errors from the Lady Bulldogs in the third frame gave the Tigresses a set advantage, 2-1.
Golden Tigress Eya Laure broke a 20-all deadlock in the opening canto with a down-the-line hit before the set was capped by Lady Bulldog Anne Chavez’ illegal attack error.
Margot Mutshima and Lacsina spearheaded the Lady Bulldogs with 23 and 19 markers, respectively.
Golden Tigress Eya Laure registered 20 points while Hernandez added 18 points.
The Lady Tigresses will next face the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws on March 8, 3:30 p.m., at the same venue.
