The UST Golden Tigresses only snatched one set against the undefeated NU Lady Bulldogs in four sets, 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 25-15, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday.
The Lady Bulldogs remain unscathed in the standings, 5-0, while the Tigresses slipped to a 3-2 win-loss record.
The Lady Bulldogs dominated the Tigresses by ten points in the fourth set, 25-15, their largest point differential loss in the young UAAP season.
With the score tied at 21-all, the Tigresses’ sole third set win came when NU committed four straight attack errors for the victory, 25-21.
In the second salvo, NU was up 22-20, when Lady Bulldogs Princess Robles and Alyssa Solomon scored back-to-back kills after a UST violation to put them up 2-0, 25-22.
The Tigresses struggled to keep up with the Lady Bulldogs in the opening set as they went down by as much as 10, 21-11.
Team captain Eya Laure is the sole double digit scorer for UST with 18 points.
Solomon (17) and Michaela Belen (16) of NU scored a total of 33 points altogether.
The Golden Tigresses will go against the Adamson University Lady Falcons on Tuesday, 4 p.m., at the same venue.
