After dropping the first two sets, the UST Golden Tigresses came from behind to trample the Adamson Lady Falcons, 24-26, 20-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-12, in their UAAP Season 84 second-round opener at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday.

The game was tied, 11-all, in the deciding frame when the Tigresses went on a 4-1 rally, fueled by solid defense, to complete the comeback.

KC Galdones scored two of UST’s four final points, including the game-winning ace.

In the penultimate set, UST was up, 23-17 when the Lady Falcons crept closer with a 6-1 run. An Eya Laure off-the-block kill fended off the Adamson comeback to force a fifth set, 25-22.

The Lady Falcons slipped on a chance to win the game in the third set, which they surrendered to UST, 25-21.

The Tigresses started off hot but gave up an 11-4 run to allow the Lady Falcons to take the first set, 26-24, and continue their momentum to secure the second set, 25-20/

The Tigresses remained in second place with a 6-2 win-loss record, while Adamson dropped to 4-4.

The Tigresses are now 3-0 in five-setters this season. They won their previous two against Adamson and the De La Salle Lady Archers in the first round.

Laure led UST in scoring with 21 points while Victoria helped the cause with 16. Ysa Jimenez also scored double digits for the Tigresses with 13.

Adamson’s Trisha Genesis was the game’s leading scorer with 23 markers. Kate Santiago and May Ann Nuique scored 18 and 16, respectively.

The Tigresses will look to extend their winning streak, which is now three games, against the University of the Philippines Lady Fighting Maroons on Saturday, May 28, 4 p.m., at the same venue. Rommel Bong R. Fuertes Jr.
