The UST Golden Tigresses dropped to third place after getting handed their first elimination-round losing streak since 2018 by the DLSU Lady Spikers on Thursday, 23-25, 17-25, 25-22, 8-25 at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday.

The Tigresses, after losing the first two sets, showed grit with a come-from-behind, third-set win to extend the game to a fourth period.

But they fell apart in the fourth set, in which they only scored a season-low eight points.

DLSU started the fourth period with a 10-2 run and never looked back to clinch the game-winning set, 25-8.

The Tigresses were down in the third set, 18-12, and on the verge of getting swept for the second-straight game when they went on a 13-4 blast to extend the game.

The Lady Archers showed total control in the second set, which they won, 23-17.

The Tigresses were down in the first set, 20-15, when they ignited an 8-3 run to reach a deadlock at 23-all.

A Leiah Malaluan kill for DLSU and an Eya Laure error gave the Lady Archers the first set.

A ball out by Laure gave DLSU the win in the first salvo, 25-23.

Laure, who led the UAAP in scoring in the first round with 22.8 points per game, was held to a season-low eight points

Leila Cruz led DLSU in scoring with 15 points, while Fifi Sharma and Thea Gagate tallied 13 markers apiece.

The Tigresses will look to snap their losing streak as they face the skidding FEU Lady Tamaraws on Saturday, 12:30 p.m., at the same venue.
