The UST Golden Tigresses notched their first win in dominant fashion after sweeping the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 25-16, 28-26, 25-21, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday, March 1.

UST displayed a more orchestrated offense, registering 50 of their 78 points by attacks.

Eya Laure scored a game-high 17 points, while new Tigresses Jonna Perdido and Renee Peñafiel scored 12 and 10 markers, respectively.

Rookie setter Cassie Carballo was named player of the game with eight excellent sets.

The Lady Tamaraws were ahead in the third set, 11-9, before UST went on a game-winning 16-10 run to secure the win.

The Tigresses also had to come from behind in the second set, in which they were trailing by four, 14-10, before a mid-set run that allowed them to force a deuce.

With the set tied at 26-all, Peñafiel converted an attack and Carballo registered a block kill to go up two sets to none.

UST easily took the first set, 25-16.

Allyza Devosora paced FEU with 14 points.

Up next for the Tigresses are the defending champions NU Bulldogs on March 4, Saturday, 2 p.m., at the Mall of Asia Arena.
