Errors cost the UST Tiger Spikers another game as they collapsed against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws in a five-set affair, 21-25, 25-22, 25-21,10-15, in the second round of the UAAP Season 85 men’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Sunday.

FEU was gifted 45 points due to errors committed by the Tiger Spikers.

A Rey De Vega attack gave the Tamaraws the first-set advantage, 25-21.

De Vega recompensed after sending UST to set-point in the second set, 24-20, followed by a Josh Ybañez off-the-block kill to equalize the match at one-set apiece, 25-22.

In the third set, the Tiger Spikers scored 16 successful attacks and committed only eight errors, leading to a 25-21 victory and giving them a 2-1 set advantage.

The Tamaraws regained their momentum and resumed their strong performance from the first set. Jelord Talisayan, an FEU reserve, scored a critical kill that gave FEU a 24-21 lead, followed by a Mark Calado attack that forced a fifth set.

FEU took control of the fifth set with a 7-4 start. Calado ended the match with a down-the-line kill to end the eight-game winning streak of the Tiger Spikers,15-10.

Ybañez led UST with 28 points, while De Vega scattered 15 points.

FEU’s Calado poured in 21 points, while Saavedra scored 16.

The Tiger Spikers will next face the undefeated National University Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 26, 9 a.m., at the FilOil Eco Oil Centre.
