THE UST Golden Tigresses prevailed in four sets over the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 25-21, 25-20,19-25, 25-20, in the 2023 Shakey’s Super League Pre-Season Championship do-or-die semifinals at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Sunday.

Despite the Tigresses scoring 16 attack points in the third frame, FEU capitalized on 10 UST errors to stay alive and force a fourth set, 25-19.

The game was neck-and-neck in the fourth frame after both teams recorded 11 deadlocks until the score reached 18-all.

However, the Tigresses erupted with a 7-2 run ignited by five Angeline Poyos kills that gave UST its ticket to the finals.

With FEU down by three in the second frame, 15-12, the Lady Tamaraws went on a 6-0 run to take back the lead.

However, the Tigresses responded with a 10-2 blitz to snatch the set for a two-sets-to-none lead, 25-20.

A 7-3 spurt in the first set allowed the Tigresses to draw first blood, 25-21.

Poyos steered UST with 21 markers, while sophomores Jonna Perdido and Regina Jurado chipped in 15 and 14 markers, respectively.

Chenie Tagaod paced the Lady Tamaraws with 16 points, while Faida Bakanke added 12 points.

The Golden Tigresses will face the defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs in a best-of-three finals series starting on Friday, Nov. 10, 5 p.m. at the same venue.
