Erin Sotto, the younger sister of Philippine basketball star Kai Sotto, has joined the UST Junior Golden Tigresses, boosting the team’s height after the graduation of star middle blocker Margaret Altea.
Erin, a 6-foot-4 middle blocker, had previously committed to De La Salle Zobel. Her addition fills the void left by Altea, Bien Arasan, Ysa Chua, Abi Sinson and Sandrine Escobar, who will all join the Golden Tigresses in Season 87.
Erin will provide an immediate boost to the Junior Golden Tigresses’ returning core which includes Alas Pilipinas Girls members Jaila Adrao, Avril Bron, Lianne Penuliar, Chalsiey Pepito, Kimberly Rubin and Aneeza Santos, who are all part of Alas Pilipinas Girls.
UST has also added Ashlee Knop, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter from Pampanga, to its collegiate roster.
She joins a rookie class that adds height to the Golden Tigresses, who finished with the silver medal in last season’s UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Also part of UST’s Season 87 rookie class are Francine Osis, Franzine Rameri, Johna Ajero and Kaizah Huyno.
Despite losing outside hitter Pierre Abellana to graduation, the Golden Tigresses retain their core heading into Season 87.
The Tigresses are set to participate in the 2024 Shakey’s Super League National Invitationals beginning Wednesday, July 10, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
