Dirty dancing just got sexier

DIRTY dancing never went out of style. At least that’s what the producers of this movie are trying to prove. Reliving the passion (and disappointedly, the plot) of Dirty Dancing in 1987, Dirty Dancing 2: Havana Nights has shown once more the sensuous expression of love and lust through the fine art of dancing.

New Pinoy super-hero comes out of the closet

Ang Kagila-gilalas na Pakikipagsapalaran ni Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah succeeded in deconstructing Darna and Wonder Woman.

Using the traditional Darna storyline, author Carlo Vergara gave the famed magical stone – not the marble-sized one Narda swallows, but a big weird-looking rock – not to a pure-hearted promdi girl but to a homosexual beautician Ada.

As for the trusty sidekick, Ada doesn’t have Ding but Didi, his fast-talking homosexual best friend. And of course, no story would be complete without a leading man, the object of Ada’s affection, Dodong.

Breaking The Da Vinci Code

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

If you do not know much about history, the arts, the Holy Bible, and the Church, then The Da Vinci Code is not for you.

The passion behind the passion

A NEO-NAZI confessed to two decades of bombings in Norway. A man from Arizona walked up to the police and pleaded guilty of six burglaries, while a fugitive in a bank robbery in Florida turned himself to police authorities. In Texas, a murderer admitted to his crime which investigators ruled out as a case of suicide, while in Metro Manila, priests were surprised by the number of penitents going to the confessional. All of these, reports say, happened after watching Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ.

The Thomasian vote

EVEN before the election fever hit the country, the University had already taken the initiative to instill awareness and promote participation in the election among the Thomasian community.

Picking up from the results of the 1998 national elections, the events that followed them, the University took voters’ education a notch higher. It established the Voters’ Education Initiative (VEI) committee to foster among Thomasians the basic rudiments of nationalism through democratic elections.

Alumni visa card launched

FURTHER strengthening its network of alumni, the University launched the alumni visa card at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex last March.

The privilege card is both a credit and a special discount card. It is also a charity card, giving 50 per cent of the annual membership or renewal fee to the Philippine Dominican Mission (PDM) to help fund the setting up of formation of houses, youth centers and convents, and clerical scholarships.

Guidebook on plant screening launched

The Research Center for Natural Sciences (RCNS) launched the “Guidebook to Plant Screening: Phytochemical and Biological (UST Press, 2004)” last February 17 at the Thomas Aquinas Research Complex (TARC).

Does anti-matter exist?

What is antimatter? Does it really exist? - Dani Firme, BS Applied Physics

Every Star Trek fan knows that the Starship Enterprise is powered by antimatter and travels at the speed of light. Dan Brown, the best-selling author of the Da Vinci Code, on the other hand, presented antimatter on his novel Angels and Demons as an utterly terrifying discovery. But does antimatter really exists? The answer is, certainly.
