Comelec junks LTC’s bid for accreditation

Jan. 27, 2015, 5:53 p.m. - THE UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) has upheld its decision to deny Lakas Tomasino Coalition (LTC) accreditation as a University-wide political party after failing to submit a requirement on time.

In a resolution Monday, the Comelec said LTC had failed to provide an updated roll of members despite  several deadline extensions.

“The Commission En Banc, constituting a quorum, failed to see a valid justification as to LTC’s failure to submit the required documents on time,” the decision stated.

Two political parties denied accreditation

Dec. 12, 2014, 11:33 p.m. - THE UST Central Commission on Elections (Comelec) has denied the petitions for accreditation of two university-wide political parties due to failure to meet membership requirements.

Alyansa ng Kristiyanong Lakas (AKLAS) and Lakas Tomasino Coalition (LTC) failed to accomplish the necessary documents for accreditation as stated by the UST Students’ Election Code (USEC) of 2011, according to a resolution released by the Comelec last Monday on its official Facebook page.

Lakas ng Diwang Tomasino (LD) was the sole university-wide political party to be re-accredited.
