Rain of honors

NOT EVEN rain would stop the wildfire that was the UST Graduate School Academic Theater (GSAT) in the 14th Keochang International Festival of Theater in Korea last August.

The GSAT’s performance in the festival was a milestone for UST and Philippine theater as a whole. It was the first time that UST was represented in an international drama festival and the first time that the country was invited to participate in the prestigious festival.

Pope is 5th longest reigning pontiff

LAST SEPTEMBER 10, Pope John Paul II earned the distinction of being the 5th longest reigning pontiff in the 2000-year history of the pontificate.

The Pope succeeded in climbing a notch higher when he beat the record of Pope Adrian who reigned during the 8th century. He enjoyed a pontificate of 23 years, 10 months, and 24 days in office.

‘Abortion’ bill gaining support

MORE than 100 of the 214 members of Congress are backing the Reproductive Health Care Act (House Bill 4110), which would allow for the approval of abortion.

Church leaders, in the heavily Catholic country said they would maintain their stand on the need for protection of the life of the unborn regardless of the outcome of the legislation.

Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro’s chancellor, Msgr. Rey. Manuel Monsanto said they are not alarmed by reports regarding the plurality of congressmen backing the said house bill.
