School workers call for K to 12 suspension

March 14, 2015, 6:01 p.m. - TEACHING and non-teaching personnel of several higher educational institutions (HEIs) filed a petition at the Supreme Court (SC) on March 12 to call for the suspension of the full implementation of the K to 12 program in 2016.

A coalition of HEI employees named “Suspend K to 12 Alliance” marched from Plaza Salamanca in Kalaw, Manila to the SC to show their opposition to K to 12, which they described as an “unprepared and ill-designed education program.”

Faculty union’s P26-M claim dismissed anew

Feb. 15, 2015, 2:34 p.m. - THE SUPREME Court has denied the UST Faculty Union's (USTFU) motion to reconsider a ruling junking a claim for P26 million in hospitalization and medical benefits, terminating the case against the University.

In a decision dated Oct. 22, the court denied the motion "with finality," saying there was no “substantial argument” presented to merit a reconsideration.

More changes to Students’ Code sought

Oct. 16, 2014, 7:38 a.m. - The proposed Students’ Code still needs revisions, UST officials said in a meeting with the Central Student Council (CSC) Wednesday, reducing the code's chances of being implemented this year.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Clarita Carillo said the possible room for improvement in the code was “how the ideas of the students can be phrased in the statements that they want to include in the document.”
