THOMASIAN Fr. Rex Andrew Alarcon is the new bishop of the Diocese of Daet, following Pope Francis’s announcement on Wednesday.
Alarcon took his philosophy degree at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary in Naga and finished his theological studies at the University of Santo Tomas.
The 48-year-old priest was ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Caceres in 1996. He served as private secretary to Caceres Archbishop and former UST rector Fr. Leonardo Legaspi, O.P.
In 2001, Alarcon obtained his licentiate degree in church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.
Alarcon has been the president of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines since 2016.
