MANILA Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle urged Filipinos to heal and forgive this Holy Week, during the Palm Sunday Mass at the Manila Cathedral on April 14.
Tagle stressed that forgiving enemies is a way to follow Jesus’s example.
“Huwag kayo mananakit. Ang tugon niya ay paghihilom. ‘Di tulad natin na kapag nasaktan…mananakit sa iba,” Tagle said..
Catholics must spend the Holy Week in prayer instead of on vacation, to deeply know the passion of Christ, he said.
“Bagaman tayo rin ay makapagpapahinga kapag Holy Week, sana hindi lamang bakasyon…pamamasyal kung ‘di panahon ng malalim na pag kilala kay Hesus. Titigan si Hesus at sundin ang kaniyang salita lalo na sa gawa. Huwag iwasan, lalong titigan,” he said.
Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem and the beginning of Holy Week.
