OUR LADY of Loreto was declared the official patroness of the Sampaloc district by the Manila City Council on March 23.
The well-known Marian figure, kept at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Loreto founded in 1613, is said to have protected the district from fires and calamities. She is also venerated by personnel of the Philippine Air Force.
The image of Our Lady of Loreto visited the University on Nov. 26, 2022, coinciding with the parish’s 409th anniversary celebration.
The Santisimo Rosario Parish Church is under the apostolic vicariate of Loreto.
In December 2005, Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales elevated the parish to an archdiocesan shrine. Allyssa Mae C. Cruz
