THE PHILIPPINES was dominated by South Korea, 15-0, and settled for fourth place in the 28th Asian Baseball Championship in Taiwan Sunday, Oct. 8.
UST Golden Sox pitchers Lesmar Ventura and Ron Christian Dela Cruz played in the 24-man pool of the Philippines.
“We fought a good battle for the team. Hindi naging madali para sa amin dahil bawat laro may bagong game plan,” Ventura told the Varsitarian in an online interview.
The Philippines rolled past Hongkong and Sri Lanka in the preliminary round.
But it lost to Chinese Taipei and South Korea, respectively, in the semifinals.
Japan swept the tournament en route to the title.
