AN UNDERMANNED UST Tiger Cubs pulverized the Manila Patriotic School (MPS), 94-77, in the Fr. Martin Cup at the San Beda College Gym in Mendiola Monday.
UST was limited to seven players because others, including UAAP Mythical Five member Inand Fornillos and Batang Gilas member Bismarck Lina, were taking their exams.
The Tiger Cubs raced to a 28-point lead, 87-59, before MPS rallied behind an 18-7 run.
“Magnificent naman ginawa nila [kahit kulang kami.] Pwede mo pa ngang tawagin na ‘Magnificent 7’ kasi pito lang versus 18 players,” UST head coach Chris Cantonjos said.
Rhayjun Baquial and Shin dela Cruz paced UST with 16 points apiece while CJ Balingit chipped in 15.
The Tiger Cubs will face the La Salle-Greenhills Greenies on Monday, May 29, at the same venue.
