THE UST Growling Tigers suffered a 39-point shellacking from the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 127-88, in their last 11th Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup game at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

Already ahead by 22 points, the Pirates unloaded a 24-7 bomb in the fourth quarter for the lopsided win.

Lyceum buried 11 of its 16 tripples in the final quarter alone.

UST finished the tournament with only one win in eight outings.

“We learned from this league. Pinasok ko mga rookies ko na gusto paglaruin. Nakita ko kung anong kulang sa amin,” UST head coach Boy Sablan said.

Spencer Pretta led all scorers with 21 points while Ralph Tansingco chipped in 19 markers.

Jeepy Faundo had 17 points and nine boards in the losing effort while Christian Garcia added a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers.

The Pirates scored 38 points off UST’s 33 turnovers despite getting outrebounded by 15 boards.
