THE UNIVERSITY of the East Lady Warriors stunned the UST, 2-1, as the Softbelles lost their third straight UAAP game in Manila on Saturday after winning their first three.

UE’s Kathleen Soliven sent a flyball over the fence for the go-ahead homerun in the fourth inning to secure the victory for the Lady Warriors at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Lourdes Blanco’s run-batted-in propelled Junaiza Jaspe to score the game’s first run for the Lady Warriors in the third inning.

Softbelles’ Lyra Jean Gustilo delivered the equalizer off a Lealyn Guevarra hit, 1-all, in the fourth inning.

UST had a chance to mount a big lead in the fourth with all the bases loaded but Jessie Belano’s center field hit was caught. In the same inning, the Lady Warriors had all the bases loaded but failed to convert.

Softbelles ace pitcher Ann Antolihao had a dismal performance after delivering just one strikeout throughout the match.

UST finished the first round at third place behind Adamson University (6-0) and National University (4-1). The second round will resume on Monday, Feb. 20, at the same venue.
