NU Lady Bulldogs repeat over Growling Tigresses

An error-plagued UST Growling Tigresses absorbed a 21-point beating against the undefeated National University Lady Bulldogs, 79-58, at the Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.

UST finishes the eliminations at third seed with a 10-4 win-loss record, behind University of the East and NU.

The Lady Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 61 games.

NU never trailed in the game and led by as many as 26 points after Trixie Antiquera’s basket at the 8:38 mark of the payoff period, 69-43.

“Despite the loss, I’m happy because we have overachieved our goal,” UST head coach Haydee Ong said.

Last season, the Tigresses finished fifth with a 6-8 record.

Four Lady Bulldogs scored in double digits led by Ria Nabalan’s 17 points and Je Anne Camelo’s 15.

Jack Animam anchored the paint for NU after tallying 14 markers and 16 rebounds, including 11 offensive.

UST committed 26 turnovers while the Lady Bulldogs had 16.

Sai Larosa paced the Tigresses with 20 points and nine rebounds while team captain Jhenn Angeles added 12 markers and 10 boards.

The stepladder match will be on Nov. 15, Wednesday with the time and venue yet to be announced.
