THE NATIONAL University Lady Bullpups spoiled the UST Junior Golden Tigresses’ outright finals berth, 25-20, 25-15, 26-24, in the UAAP Season 80 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.
UST remained on top with an 11-1 record but if the Lady Bullpups win their last assignment against UE, the Junior Tigresses will slide down to second.
Tied at 24-all in the third frame, UST committed two costly errors that allowed NU to escape with the win.
Already ahead 18-13 in the second canto, the Lady Bullpups uncorked a 7-2 spurt capped by Joyme Cagande’s service ace to take a 2-0 set lead.
A UST error allowed the Lady Bullpups to gain first blood, 25-20.
The Lady Bullpups dropped 36 kills while taking advantage of UST’s 29 errors.
“Nakakuha kami ng inspiration sa talong ito na kapag nagbigay kami ng too much errors, ganito magiging outcome ng laro,” Reyes added.
Alyssa Solomon hammered 15 points for the Lady Bullpups while reigning Most Valuable Player Faith Nisperos and Michaela Belen combined for 16 markers.
Eya Laure had 14 points for UST.
