THE UST table tennis teams opened their UAAP Season 79 campaign with six wins at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym Saturday.
The Male Paddlers and Female Paddlers both made quick work of their three opponents for an identical 3-0 card.
“Sobrang bilib nga ako at natutuwa ako kasi ‘di sila na pressure or anything. Talagang grounded lang sila at lumabas yung pinagtraining-an namin,” Male Paddlers head coach Jackson Que told the Varsitarian.
The Male Paddlers did not surrender a single game against the University of the East, the Ateneo de Manila University and the University of the Philippines, taking home three 3-0 wins.
Their female counterparts swept Ateneo, 3-0, before toppling UE and Adamson University with 3-1 verdicts.
“‘Yung UE medyo alanganin so nag-play safe na lang kami at least nanalo kami na standing [ay] 3-1,” Lady Paddlers head coach Lori Wadjad said.
The Male Paddlers will face Adamson, National University, Far Eastern University and De La Salle University while the Lady Paddlers will clash against NU, UP, La Salle and FEU tomorrow at the same venue.
