TWO TIGER Jins bagged four medals in the Philippines’ 3-5-6 gold-silver-bronze haul in the 4th Asian Taekwondo Poomsae Championships at the Marriott Hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay City last Monday.

UST’s Rodolfo Reyes Jr. teamed up with University of the Philippines standouts Dustin Jacob and Raphael Enrico Mella for a silver-medal finish in the men’s under-30 team event behind Indonesia.

Reyes settled for another silver in the individual event after yielding to South Korea’s Chang Yun Oh.

In women’s play, the trio of UST’s Jocelyn Ninobla, University of Baguio’s Angelica Gaw and Philippine Science High School’s Clare Gascon placed second in the women’s under-30 team event behind Taipei.

Thomasian Ninobla, also a world champion, secured a bronze in her individual event.

“It was surreal. I wasn’t expecting to be on top four considering there are a lot of good competitors in my line up. But I felt confident with my performance and I just trusted my coach and most especially God. God is really good,” Ninobla said in an online interview.

The Philippines is in second place with 67 points, behind South Korea which has 73 points.

“I felt grateful with the outcome. And I felt honored to have performed for the Filipinos and have inspired them most especially the aspiring youth and the taekwondo jins.” Ninobla added.
