AN ERROR-PLAGUED UST Tiger Spikers salvaged a four-set win against the Adamson University Falcons, 25-20, 25-21, 14-25, 25-22, in the UAAP Season 80 men’s volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

The Tiger Spikers had a slim one-point lead in the fourth set, 23-22, before back-to-back kills from Joshua Umandal and Timothy Tajanlangit sealed the game.

Despite the win, UST head coach Odjie Mamon remained unsatisfied because the team was unable to sweep their games.

“Pang-apat na laro na namin ‘to pero palagi kaming talo ‘pag third set,” he said.

UST had 38 errors against Adamson’s 35.

Adamson unloaded a 19-9 blitz in the third frame, topped by Paolo Pablico’s service ace to prevent a sweep, 25-14.

With the Falcons narrowing a 12-point UST lead to three in the second set, 23-20, the Tiger Spikers retaliated by scoring two of the last three points for a commanding 2-0 set lead.

Umandal’s down-the-line kill capped off a quick 5-2 burst by UST in the opening salvo, 25-20.

Arnold Bautista led all scorers with 16 points while Umandal added 12 markers for UST.

Leo Miranda paced Adamson with 12 points.

The Tiger Spikers, who now hold a 3-1 win-loss record, will face the National University Bulldogs on Feb. 25, Sunday, 10 a.m., at the same venue.
