THE UST Woodwind Ensemble will perform a repertoire of love songs in the third edition of their Valentine-themed concert on Feb. 21 at Albertus Magnus Auditorium.
Led by orchestral conducting student Jedrick Itugot, the ensemble will perform romantic classics such as the “Romeo and Juliet Overture” by Russian composer Pyotr Tchaikovsk, “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” by Filipino composer Aaron del Rosario and the 1875 music suite “Carmen Suite” by French composer Georges Bizet.
The ensemble will be joined by Derrick Atangan, the principal bassoon of the UST Symphony Orchestra, and singers Demie Fresco and John Saga.
Fresco was recipient of the 2016 Aliw Award’s Best Female New Artist while Saga was the grand champion in Thomasian Idols Season 3 in 2013.
“We will also be performing with Coro Tomasino and Liturgikon Vocal Ensemble which makes this more special compared to the previous ones,” Itugot said in an interview with the Varsitarian.
The UST Woodwind Ensemble held their first Valentine concert titled “Serenade” in 2015, followed by “Seasons of Love” in February 2016.
