PHILOSOPHY alumna Kristi Celyn Banks won 2nd Princess honors in the Miss World Philippines 2019 pageant held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sept. 15.

Banks, who obtained her degree from the University in 2015 and is a former Central Student Council treasurer, barged into the Top 12 and also won Miss Bluewater Day Spa along with the newly crowned Miss World Philippines Michelle Dee.

Competing in the final question-and-answer portion, the 25-year-old was asked if social media should be considered a good thing or a bad thing.

“I would like to look at [social media] in a more positive way because we are able to [send] a message to a wider audience… Sometimes we do, I admit, abuse social media but at the end of the day, we should always be conscious of what we post,” Banks answered.

Banks, hotel and restaurant management alumna Kayesha Clauden Chua, speech pathology graduate Patricia Camille Gutierrez and Louise Theunis, a masters in pharmacy student, finished in the Top 22.

Fine arts alumna Patrisha Ann Tan also fought for the coveted crown.
