A THOMASIAN writer and film maker is among the six fellows of a national workshop on criticism covering the arts and culture.
Jose Mojica, resident fellow of UST Center for Creative Writing and Literary Studies, is set to join the 9th Kritika La Salle National Workshop on Art and Cultural Criticism at the De La Salle University on Feb. 7 to 9.
“As a young critic, I expect to learn how to improve the level of my scholarship beyond what is familiar and comfortable, to approach future subjects with constructive impulse that is relevant in today’s intellectual sphere,” Mojica, who will be a fellow for film, told the Varsitarian.
Mojica said workshops on criticism could also lead discourse on various issues to “deeper inquiry and ideal response.”
Mojica is a member of the Screenwriters Guild of the Philippines.
Other fellows include Cecille Baello (film), Chris Lao (literature), Christine Magpile (food and popular culture), Denise de Vera (popular culture) and Jose Viray (visual arts).
Journalism alumnus and historian Jose Victor Torres will be among the workshop’s guest panelists, together with critics Cid Reyes, Shirley Lua and Carlos Piocos III.
