AS A precautionary measure against SARS, the UST Museum decided to cancel its annual summer art workshop for children.
“We just want to be careful because the participants are all children. This is to follow the Department of Health’s (DOH) advisory not to do activities that involve public gatherings, so we cancelled it,” UST Museum asst. gallery curator Jocelyn Tullao said.
The museum’s staff agreed to cancel this year’s Kid’s Stuff Summer Art Workshop which was supposed to be held on May 12, during a meeting last April 25.
“Even though we say that the media are just sensationalizing the news about SARS, we cannot deny that we are still affected by that story,” Tullao explained.
She also said there has been a decline of registrations in other summer workshops and activities due to the SARS scare.
In lieu of the activity, UST Museum decided to have an outreach program at the Silong Tanglaw Foundation in Araneta Avenue Quezon City.
The children’s workshop, now on its fifth year, is an annual activity open to the University’s elementary students and young children of UST academic and non-academic employees.
Tullao said they are planning to have a bigger and better program of the Kid’s Stuff for next summer. Richard L. Rodriguez
