A THOMASIAN was hailed fifth best speaker in the Seventh National Debate Championship: Sandurot Cup held in Dumaguete City last Oct. 22 to 28.
Faculty of Civil Law sophomore John Reily Baluyot bested 208 other debaters in the tournament.
Two of four UST teams, UST E, composed of Baluyot and Kevin Erick Relopez, Faculty of Arts and Letters (Artlets) Legal Management junior and Thomasian Debaters Council (TDC) president Kevin Edrick Relopez, and UST A, composed of Legal Management senior Peter Paul Sunga and College of Nursing junior Judilyn Sison, broke into the Quarterfinal Rounds.
UST Team E ranked second overall during the elimination round among 32 teams, including Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of the Philippines–Diliman, UP-Manila, College of St. Benilde, St. Paul University–Dumaguete, and Ateneo de Zamboanga University.
