AutorGUEST player Mary Jean Balse put up an explosive performance to lift the UST Lady Spikers past University of Perpetual Help, 25-19, 25-21, 25-20, in the Shakey’s V-League at the Arena in San Juan on Tuesday.

A former UST standout, Balse finished with 12 points and five blocks, while Judy Caballejo and Utaiwan Kaensing added 12 points each.

UST is now in solo second placd with a 5-1 card going into the semifinals.

”We worked out on our mistakes from our last game [against Ateneo] and came out with a variety of attacks and good defense,” coach Odjie Mamon said.

Balse checked in late in the last frame to score consecutive quick attacks, 22-18, before a Pamela Lastimosa ace shut the door for the resurging Lady Altas. Jan Edward B. Ballesteros
