A PROPOSAL by a group of College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) students to boost tourism in Batanes was named best destination marketing plan in the Youth for Tourism and Hospitality (#Y4TH) International Conference 2021 on Oct. 24.
The team of Tricia Li, Moira San Juan, Uan Llaneta, Ricalyn Shimosawa and Yaira Laboy defeated 17 entries from 12 universities with their marketing plan that proposed the launch of the mobile application “Batanes IvaTrack.”
“The destination marketing plan can be a guide on how Batanes can plan the resumption of tourism activities,” team adviser Arnulfo Butiong told the Varsitarian.
Butiong also said the application would highlight the cultural heritage of Batanes and promote “workation” (work and vacation) destinations and “bubble tourism” in the province.
The group was also coached by CTHM faculty members Aristotle Chico and Sarah Po.
University representatives Marie Tayco, Aaliyah Senaca and Gabriel Echevarria won first-runner up in the travel vlog competition with their seven-minute video featuring Boracay.
