THE UNIVERSITY will serve as a Covid-19 vaccine booster site for Thomasians on Thursday, Sept. 22, to become the first Philippine higher education institution (HEI) to participate in the national government’s “PinasLakas” campaign.
The booster-shot vaccination will be launched in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH), the Manila City Health Department and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
First and second booster doses will be made available to UST students as well as University staff and their dependents.
Thomasians may avail of the booster shots from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the UST Practice Gym.
Interested students and staff need to reserve their booster dose through thomedss.ust.edu.ph from Sept. 16 to 19., and register on manilacovid19vaccine.ph.
For direct-hired staff and University staff dependents, they must send an email to healthservice@ust.edu.ph with “COVID-19 BOOSTER VACCINATION” as the subject heading and register on manilacovid19vaccine.ph.
Students and staff who will avail the vaccines may be excused from their classes and work, the Office of the Secretary General said.
All vaccinees must wear well-fitted masks and observe minimum public health protocols inside University grounds.
Upon entry to the University, students and staff must also present their accomplished health declaration checklist from the Thomasian Online Medical Services and Support (ThOMedSS), while direct-hired staff and UST staff dependents need to present an accomplished health declaration from the StaySafe.PH app.
Those with Covid-19 symptoms and who are currently in isolation or quarantine for Covid-19 will not be allowed to enter the University and participate in the vaccination.
Only 5,056,679 individuals out of Metro Manila’s 12,546,802 fully vaccinated residents have received booster doses as of Sept. 18.
“PinasLakas” is the nationwide booster vaccination campaign of the DOH that aims to increase the country’s Covid-19 vaccine booster shot throughput to help maintain the country’s wall of immunity against the disease. M.S.Orozco.
