THE UNIVERSITY will shift all classes online on Sept. 20, and certain academic units will have a number of online class days next month, as UST hosts the 2023 Bar examinations.

The exams will be conducted on Sept. 17 (Sunday), 20 (Wednesday), and 24 (Sunday), with only the UST Hospital, Carpark, Institute of Physical Education and Athletics (for specific student-athletes using the Quadricentennial Pavilion), Santísimo Rosario Parish, Hotel 1611, and Domus Mariae allowed to operate apart from designated buildings where exams will be held.

The Benavides Building and St. Raymund de Peñafort Building will be used as testing areas, while the Tan Yan Kee Student Center will serve as headquarters for Supreme Court officials on exam days.

During the three Bar exam days, the middle part of the campus, which encompasses the Benavides Park, Plaza Mayor, Main Building, Quadricentennial Park, Miguel de Benavides Library, St. Raymund de Peñafort Building, Benavides Building, and Tan Yan Kee Student Center, will be designated as a “controlled area.”

Individuals without official business on the specified dates will not be allowed entry to the controlled area unless granted permission by the Bar examination chairman.

Sept. 15, 16, 19, and 23 have been designated as simulation and pre-bar days, during which UST buildings to be used for the examinations will be inspected and prepared. Ingress and egress will happen on Sept. 13 to 14 and Sept. 25 to 26, respectively.

The following academic units will shift to enriched virtual mode of instruction for learning delivery and a work-from-home arrangement for support staff and officials during the ingress, egress, simulation, and pre-bar days:

  • College of Fine Arts and Design (Beato Angelico Building)
  • College of Architecture (Beato Angelico Building)
  • College of Commerce and Business Administration (St. Raymund de Peñafort Building)
  • Faculty of Arts and Letters (St. Raymund de Peñafort Building)
  • Junior High School (Benavides Building)

All Artlets students with classes at the Buenaventura G. Paredes, O.P. Building (BGPOP) will continue with the hybrid mode of learning. The Artlets Dean’s office will have a skeleton force at Room 1109.

Unaffected academic and administrative units will proceed with in-person classes and work.

Student organizations will not be permitted to conduct office activities at the Tan Yan Kee Student Center during the ingress, egress, simulation, and pre-bar days, except for the Simbahayan Community Development Office, Central Student Council, Student Organizations Coordinating Council, and The Varsitarian.

The Supreme Court in July named UST as one of six testing venues in Metro Manila where the three-day exams will be conducted.
