A TOTAL of 40,657 students have enrolled in UST for the second term of Academic Year (AY) 2023 to 2024, based on data released by the Office of the Registrar.

According to data as of Jan. 29, a day after enrollment for Term 2 ended, 33,407 students were enrolled in the University’s undergraduate and graduate programs, while 7,250 were enrolled in basic education.

This was roughly the same number of students who enrolled in the previous term when UST had 41,554 enrollees.

However, it was 4.76 percent lower compared to the student population during the same time last year, which had 42,687 enrollees.

The Faculty of Engineering remained the academic unit with the most enrollees, with 3,933 students this term. 

It was followed by the Faculty of Arts and Letters with 3,510 students and the Faculty of Pharmacy with 3,119 students.

The Conservatory of Music recorded the steepest drop in the number of students, with 326 enrollees in Term 2 compared with 441 in Term 1, representing a 26.08-percent decrease.

It was followed by the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery with a 20.72-percent drop in enrollees, to 1,427 from 1,800 during the same period. 

Enrollment at the UST-Alfredo M. Velayo College of Accountancy decreased by 12.89 percent, falling to 1,920 this term from 2,204 last term.

The Institute of Physical Education and Athletics saw the biggest growth in student population, with 370 students this term from 275 last term (a 34.55-percent increase). 

Following it was the Faculty of Civil Law, which saw a 24.01-percent increase, with the number of enrollees rising to 904 from 729.
