AFTER a rainy but inspiring youth encounter with the Pope, UST Rector Fr. Herminio Dagohoy O.P., finds the message of Pope Francis for the youth challenging and “very timely.”

“On a personal level, I think that it is a challenge for you. I hope young people remember his (Pope Francis’) words and make it really part of your daily life,” Dagohoy told the Varsitarian in an interview.

During the Pope’s youth encounter at the University grandstand on Sunday, Jan. 18, Dagohoy said the University is “certainly very happy” with the Pontiff’s visit since his message is timely for the youth.

“[I am] certainly very happy. We are part of the itinerary and this is exactly very timely since his message is for the young people,” Dagohoy said, adding that the encounter was a historical moment not only for UST but for the whole country as well.

During his speech, Pope Francis talked about love and living harmoniously with others.

“True love is letting yourself be loved. That’s why it’s hard to love God because we can love Him, but we have to let Him love us,” Pope Francis said. Arianne F. Merez
