THE UST Tracksters brought home 14 gold and 3 silver medals in the 2019 University Games in Iloilo, Thursday.
The women’s track and field team bagged the title, with gold medals in the 4×100-meter, 4×200-meter, and classical relay, and a silver in the 4×400-meter relay.
The UST men’s team finished second with a gold in the 4×100-meter and classical relay.
Jie Anne Calis dominated the 800-meter, 1,500-meter and 3,00-meter events.
Berna Luz Talaron brought home gold in the 100-meter dash category while Pamela Marquillero took gold and silver in 100-meter hurdles and 100-meter dash, respectively.
Elvy Villagoniza won twin gold medals in the long jump and triple jump category while adding a silver medal in the high jump event.
Kiervi Abelo reaped gold in the shotput competition while Efrelyn Democer notched gold in the javelin throw event.
“Naipakita ng mga rookies at sophomores natin na kaya nilang ituloy yung winning ways ng mga seniors,” UST head coach Manny Calipes said in an online interview with the Varsitarian.
