THE UST Female Tracksters failed to defend their UAAP title, placing third in the Season 86 women’s athletics tournament at the PhilSports Track Oval in Pasig on Sunday, Nov. 26.

UST garnered a total of 235 points behind this season’s champion De La Salle University with 301 points and silver medalist Far Eastern University with 268 points. 

Jeanne Arnibal won the Rookie of the Year plum. On the last day of the tournament, she notched the lone medal of the Female Tracksters with bronze in the women’s 100-meter hurdles event.

Arnibal ruled the women’s heptathlon and triple jump events, and finished with silver in the women’s high jump event en route to topping the rookie race. 

UST tallied a 6-3-4 gold-silver-bronze medal haul, courtesy of Arnibal, Lanie Carpentero and record-breakers Lianne Pama and Jamela de Asis.

Meanwhile, the UST Male Tracksters placed sixth in the men’s division with 106 points and a 3-1-1 medal tally. 

Jhon Ballellos capped the season for UST, dominating the men’s hammer throw event after registering 45.63 meters.

UST’s quartet of Hokett de los Santos, Jasper Obanon, Gerald Casimiro and John Romero clocked 3:18.89 in the men’s 4×400-meter relay event for the silver-medal finish.
