Obiena rules Germany tilt

Thomasian pole vaulter EJ Obiena won a gold medal at the Jump and Fly series in Mössingen, Germany on Sunday (Philippine time). 

Obiena cleared 5.80 meters on his third attempt to take home the top plum. 

The 2022 Southeast Asian Games gold medalist was given two attempts to eclipse his personal best and Asian record at 5.94 meters but failed. 

China’s Huang Bokai settled for second place after clearing 5.50 meters. 

Germany’s Vincent Hobbie placed third in the competition, registering 5.10 meters. 

The former UST Trackster placed sixth place in his stint during the Wanda Diamond League in Stockholm last June 30, after completing only the 5.73 meter bar. Mark Ernest V. Villeza
